Step-by-Step Installation

Prepare the Wall Surface

Ensure the wall is clean, dry, and structurally sound. Install a moisture barrier such as plastic sheeting or asphalt paper to protect the structure beneath.

Apply Metal Lath

Fasten metal lath securely over the moisture barrier. This creates the bonding surface needed for the Type S mortar and ensures strong adhesion for every concrete log.

Butter the Logs with Mortar

Each concrete log is coated—or “buttered”—on the back with Type S mortar. This mortar bed provides both adhesion and additional stabilization once set.

Set the Logs in Place

Press each log firmly against the lath and secure it using screws through the embedded galvanized wall ties. These ties are cast directly into every log for reliable, long-term attachment.

Install Dovetail Corners

Corner pieces are installed as you build up the wall courses. Their interlocking visual design ensures a seamless, authentic dovetail appearance.

Stain the Logs

After installation, the logs are stained on-site using masonry-compatible concrete stains. This allows for custom color matching and a natural wood-like finish.

Apply Chinking

Fill the horizontal and vertical joints with Type S mortar to create traditional chinking lines. These chinking joints add depth, realism, and weather protection.

Seal for Longevity

Once staining and chinking are complete, apply a clear sealer to enhance the color, protect against fading, and ensure long-lasting durability.
